The term air leak syndrome is used to describe symptoms of respiratory distress occurring in conjunction with an air leak. Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, physician associates, nurses, pharmacists, and nurse practitioners.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:

  • Outline the causes of air leaks.
  • Review how to recognize an air leak.
  • Summarize how to manage an air leak.
  • Explain why careful planning and discussion amongst interprofessional team members involved in the management of patients with air leaks will improve outcomes.
